DON'T take Visa travellers chqs to Bali! I had great trouble finding a money changer or bank who would accept them and then only at rates much lower than my friends with Amex ones. Only found one in Kuta square and asked at least 50 if they would take them! Lucky I could use my card in ATM's or I would have been in trouble. I have always used AMEX before - but allowed myself to be talked into taking Visa by my bank. 'It's accepted everywhere' they said. I'll be asking for the commission back.
