And chewing gum is no longer prohibited, but it is restricted. You can bring in a couple of packs, but not "retail quantities".
You can't bring in fake currency (not sure about monopoly money, but definitely not that "hell money" that is burned at chinese ceremonies), firecrackers, lewd material, endangered species and their by-products (so no rhino horn), pirated/copied movies/music. There's a death penalty for drugs, and they may need to see a prescription before letting you bring in any medication.
When I arrived in Singapore, I grabbed my bag and wandered around looking for customs, and found myself in some kind of lobby near the airport exit. So I went back and found a guy and asked if he wanted to check my bags, and he said "no, it's ok". So I just left. I thought that was weird.
The airport is spectacular.
It's a bummer about no duty-free cigs. Not just because in Singapore cigarettes are almost as expensive as in Australia, but because the packets, along with the usual health warning, have full-colour pictures of diseased gums, brain tumours, black lungs, and other gorey stuff on them.
