apparently it is a device that plugs into your video recorder. It then captures the footage from the vhs tape and stores on a temporary file. You can then plug it into computer and convert vhs footage into digital footage so that you can burn it to a cd. It apparently takes about 8 - 10 hours to convert a 90 minute tape so usually run overnight with everything including broadband disconnected. From what I have been told they range from about $75 -$1000 depending on what you want to be able to do etc. Available from computer stores etc in Aus. Waiting for brother in law who works at Dick Smiths to give me a price on one and more info. Once I have I will post in forum for you if you would like. Dont know anymore than that at the moment as was told to me by brother last night. I also had never heard of one either. This is apparently how the shops put footage onto dvd for you. Just thought may be cheaper to invest in one as I too have heaps of footage to convert over. Hope this helps. Will update you as I learn more.

Cheers Jacqui
