never contracted a potentially fatal disease. I can't see that's proof of anything. Or good reason to advise others not to be cautious.
I think everyone is aware that the risks are extremely small; probably just one or two people in every thousand will get any serious illness. So you would need to keep going every month for the next 50 years to have a 50/50 chance of getting sick.
I think the point is, you can be vaccinated very cheaply and easily gauranteeing you against getting sick from nearly all of the really bad diseases.
I have been driving for seventeen years and never had an accident. I'll still keep my insurance going and wear my seatbelt though.
