OK...I found some information...did a google search because I really started to wonder.

Travel insurance does often have a clause to cover loss of funds...with a fairly low limit for TCs and an even lower limit for cash. Most of the companies that do offer any coverage at all for loss of cash require that you were carrying the cash at the time off loss "on your person" - meaning it is not covered if it stolen from the room safe or hotel lock box. Limits were $500.00 or less for every company I checked.

29. Does your policy cover loss of cash?
No, cash is excluded. A World Nomads Travel Insurance policy covers your personal belongings if they are stolen or damaged or misdirected by a carrier.

So, please check your own policies very carefully...it would be a tragedy for you to not to be covered and have a huge loss.
