Thanks Charlz
It is a magnificent place, with fanatstic staff and facilities.
Unfortunately I didnt take much notice of the gym set up as I was too busy lounging in my beach bale! however from memory I think it is located next to the tennis court and appeared to be only a couple of machines but we did not ever see anyone on them.
Our room was a deluxe ocean room which was in the same wing as the spa, room 1308 ground floor and faced towards the water garden and ocean. I am not sure the difference between the lagoon access and the ocean suite, the rooms with the lagoon access would be wonderful as the pool is open 24hours. Ground floor is certainly a bonus, and try to get a room away a little from the main access paths into the building, our concern when we arrived was that our room was next to the access path but due to 100% occupancy the could not move us to a similiar room, so we stayed put and it ended up being okay.
We figured out after a couple of days that if you want a beach bale ( highly reccomnended for maximum relaxation ) you have to get up early ie 6.30 am and put your belongings there, go to breakfast etc then return. Signs say the pool staff will remove items if left unattended for longer than an hour but it was more like 2-3 hours. So after a few days of getting cranky at unattended bales, we thought well you have to play the game!
Late check out facilities fantastic, we didnt fly out untill 11pm and were able to use the hotel facilities all day and have access to the day spa area for showers etc. Nothing was too much trouble, everything is taken care of.
Friday night Kecak performance at the Suku rest. was fantastic. Spice rest. their signiture restaurant was lovely, 8 degrees south on the beach for a more casual meal.
if you want any more info let me know, or other info re Tanjung Benoa.
P.S dont change money at the CD shop opposite grand mirage they attempted to rip us off. There is a kodak shop nearby and one opposite Melia Benoa.
Have fun
