We just got back after spending 4 weeks in Bali, we stayed at the Puri Santrian Sanur in the Club rooms, we kept this hotel as our base, nice hotel, lovely gardens direct on the beach, although the beach is nothing to write home about.
We made a few trips to our favourite spots, like Geger beach near Nusa Dua very nice beach and not yet spoiled by massa tourism,
their are facilities like beach chairs, showers, western toilet and a very nice cheap and friendly restaurant average cost meal for 2 with drinks around 60,000rph.
We also visited KU-DE-TA, nice place but is it is now getting too expensive, lots of posers!! pretending to be millionaires!!!!
well, after all we are all millionaires in Bali!!!
We took a trip to Candidasa and stayed a couple of nights in the Watergardens Hotel, nice boutique hotel, fantastic restaurant, nice surroundings, highlight of our trip to Candidasa was snorkeling in the Blue Lagoon for us it was out of this world!! blue coral and thousands of tropical fishes, it is worth going if only for the snorkeling.
We also made a trip to Permuteran in the north of the island stayed overnight in the Aneka Bagus Resort, lovely resort, peaceful, and nice pool, very nice place to relax.
We also visited isolated villages, which for me was the real Bali, got invited to a local wedding, lovely experience, visited the village of our driver and we were welcome with open arms by all the family, also went to the bottom of the volcano in kintamani to see the lava rocks and the hot springs in the volcanic lake.
We ate in some very nice restaurants....
Bumbu Bali in tanjun benoa ... excellent balinese food
Ketupat Legian street.... authentic indonesian food
Mezzanine Sanur............international top quality
and many others but these 3 were in our opinion the best.
We did the usual tourist thing i.e. bought sarongs, t-shirts, wood carvings, had massage in Geger beach and we got ourselves a nice tan.
