in paying with AU$.
I have travelled into Bali on 3 occasions so far this year and have experienced absolutely NO difficulties whatsoever in paying with AU$ instead of US$. Only possible problem may have been if the notes they were using were worn or torn as you will find nowhere in Bali which will accept ANY foreign currency that is not in tip-top condition.
The Government now has one of the Banks handling the VOA Receipt purchases and exchange rate used in conversion is the current day's Bank Rate - better than that given by Money Changers within the Airport. We now advise our clients to in fact pay with AU$ and hand-over a crisp $50 note; that way they get their change in Rupiah - more than enough to keep them going until they can access a Money Changer close to where they are staying.
