To give you an idea of the different rates - on the street (either money changer or ATM withdrawal over there) I was getting around 7,200 to 7,400 - money changer at the hotel was 6,800. Too late to worry about what you changed already, but change any further money over there, either from a good money changer or withdraw from ATM with a card. Don't change money at the airport either - their rate is much lower. Another tip - bring back 100,000 rp or so with you - that way you will have rupiah for taxi/drink etc when you first get over there next trip. And there will be a next trip, trust me.
