Try flying from Japan in the thick of winter with the snow & freezing temperatures straight into the humidity of Hawaii.
OMG I was just gone 18 years old & was travelling on my own.I'd bought a very heavy fur coat in Hong Kong & couldn't fit it in my suit case.I wore it to Japan which was fine.Stored it in an over head locker on the way to Honolulu BUT I got off the plane had to put it on.I was greeted by an sweet sickening overpowering smell of the lei & I just lost it - I pretty much passed out from the heat as I hit the tarmac.I vaguely remember the female flight attendant almost carrying me through customs.Everyone was probably wondering why this crazy woman was wearing a heavy fur coat in such hot weather !!! I was SO sad I missed out on perving on all the young American guys as I got off the plane - Hey I WAS only 18,footloose & fancy free !!
These days as we leave Adelaide we are in shorts & t-shirts.It might be winter as we leave but we know once we get off in Bali it will be hot.Never again will I over dress for the climate that I am going to.
