I suggest just going out for a walk. Take 100,000rupiahs or so with you, so you'll have enough for a drink, and a taxi home if you need it. Just go and walk and look. With no money to risk, you'll feel safer, you can't get pressured into anything, and it takes a LOT of pressure of you in every regard.
I'm 36 (damn, that cat's out of the bag, now!) & I'll happily walk around the well-lit areas at nightime. I have to say that I feel safer in Bali at night, than I would at night in Adelaide.
Go and have a wonderful time.
Your daughter will also be lucky enough to realize what most of the world actually lives like. Hopefully those sort of lessons learnt that early would stay with you for life.
