Every now and again in Australia, the government likes to be seen to be doing something about drugs.
So the feds go sick and stop a few big shipments for a while, and the purity of street-bought heroin decreases significantly.
Then the feds get bored and go play somewhere else, and a huge shipment hits the streets which is a lot stronger than the stuff everyone has become used to, and then there's a bunch of overdoses all in the same week.
And then we renew the debate about shooting galleries and other things we can do to make drug use safer.
And for the bankers who launder the money and run the whole show, life goes on as usual.
