elephant park

Can anyone give me info on riding on elephants in Bali. Heard of an elephant park and also the monkeys are great to take kids to. Are taking our family in June/July. How safe is the elephant riding?? My youngest is only 7? Im a little hesitant! Anyone been there recently - let me know how you went!
