Hi Jodie

Congrats !! Im Sheryl -a midwife in NZ. As other have mentioned most airlines have a date after which they will not let you fly - some will allow an exception if you have a letter from your caregiver giving you the Ok so its worth asking - though often even then your insurance wont cover your pregnancy so its a bit of a risk - both medically and financially.

Whether I would sign an OK for a client of mine would depend on how well they had been during the pregnancy, whether it was their first baby, family history etc. Obviously the main risk with travelling later in pregnancy is becoming unwell during your stay (toxeamia etc) or prem labour / birth in a country where the neonatal facilities wont be as available as in more developed countries.

Personally I would be reluctant to travel overseas after 34 wks unless it was essential - but at the end of the day its your call.

Cheers
Sheryl
