They're not screwing around in Indonesia. Police raids at Jakarta nightclubs have netted more than 750 people -- about 350 dealers and the rest users. At this rate, they're going to run out of bullets.
30,000 ecstacy tablets were intercepted at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, coming in from the Netherlands. The article said each tablet could be sold for 100,000Rp. I'm pretty sure you can get it cheaper than that.
Some poor bugger mentioned in the same article was arrested for having half a gram of crystal meth in his pocket. It doesn't say what happened to him, but I picture him in jail, waiting for his trial while the courts try to deal with 750 other cases. Half a gram probably has the same effect as drinking ten cups of coffee. Silly man.
So don't go thinking that Australians are special, just because they're making headlines at home. Everyone is getting done.
And it's an odd coincidence that on consecutive days a soldier shot three of his fellow soldiers, and a cop shot another cop and then himself. I hope it's not the start of Authority-figure Gang Wars. Coz, as in most countries, it's the military who imports most of it (coz it doesn't have to go through customs), and the police who distribute it (coz they have all the contacts).
