I'm Mooball's wife - we stayed in the wooden room a couple of weeks ago. My favourite part was the lovely day bed on the balcony. It was great to lie out there in the middle of the day reading of napping.

Tegal Sari offers some tours still - although the cicyle one is apparently no longer offered, they still do have bicycles to rent. We did a morning trekking tour through the rice fields and yes, trekking was the right word. We took the "short" option, left at around 9am and returned at around 12.30/1ish. We first went to a painting compound and watched a family paint and had a go at it ourselves, then started off walking through the rice fields. Some bits were quite frightening because it had rained a few days beforehand and so balancing on the little "walls" of the rice fields was a bit slippery. We then had to climb/walk down some very steep "stairs" in to a valley area and then up again to walk along the side of a river for a while.

After about an hour and a half of trekking we got picked up, driven back to Tegal Sari and had lunch (Nasi Campur - delicious) It was 125,000 each and well worth it. Our guide was lovely and we all enjoyed it though it was a little stressful going down those slippery hills. We took my 50 year old parents and we're all reasonably fit (ie. we all walk at least a few times a week at home for exercise)and had no problems fitness wise with the walk at all. The main issue for me was the stress of feeling like I was going to fall or slip but I don't think it would be that bad if you had a few days of no rain beforehand. We could have walked, I think, for a couple more hours if we wanted but we were all keen to get back for other afternoon activities (ie. sleeping and reading on the balcony)
