We are looking at 30 days holiday (from NZ) to Bali and Thailand. Only ever been to Bali before. If we get a package deal with Garuda to Bali (the kind with 5-6 nights stay in a hotel) we could extend our visit by arranging our own accommodation for the other nights. We are thinking maybe about 20 days in Bali and 10 in Thailand. Now if we go to Thailand first, or after Bali, then we have to organise a different itinerary/maybe dearer..we would not be able to take advantage of one of the special deals we see advertised here.
I was thinking another way of doing it was to go to Bali, fly to Bangkok after 10 days, spend 10 days Thailand, fly back to Bali and finish with 10 days there, before flying home with our package flights.
We are pretty much restricted to flying Garuda from NZ. The only other possibility is picking uo really cheap flights to and from Australia, and doing the whole trip from Australia. (The $100 departure tax from Australia would make it more expensive for us, though).
Has anyone done the Bali/Thailand combination before, and is there any advice you can offer please?
Many thanks
Carol
