If I were you, I would take the Vienna Beach pickup at the airport. The drive is long and once past Candi Dasa, is very beautiful with rice terraces etc on the way. You would want to be seeing the sights rather than driving yourself. You could arrange for a driver in Amed, if the other poster is correct. I stayed at the Vienna Beach for a couple of days. It has great snorkeling right from the beach. The place is very casual and you will like the outdoor tables for two right next to the beach. I was dropped off in Amed by a driver from Candi Dasa, and he picked me up two days later to drive back to Candi Dasa.
