I feel that room safes are a bit dodgy, because if they are broken into who did it? Staff, other guests or outsiders. At least with a security box with your key and hotel key to open it you know if something is missing the hotel is responsible. Also you have to fill out a card to say you have accessed the box and the hotel staff have to counter sign, so there is a record of all authorized access to the box. As a belt and braces check I have all cash bundled in $100 lots with a number attached to each $100 so I know I have cashed the bundles in sequence. We have stopped at Puri Raja many times and have never had any problems or heard of anyone else having problems with money. The hotel give an exchange rate comparable with the moneychangers, so I cash money at the hotel and do not have the problem with slight of hand tricks or dodgy calculators.
Have a safe trip.
Loz.
