[sometimes known as Berawa] is the next beachside village up from Pettitenget, which is north of Seminyak. It has three hotels on the beach and used to have several restaurants, a number of shops and a very honest moneychanger. After the bomb and the downturn in business it virtually became a ghost town. This was very sad for me personally as the Legong Keraton Hotel at Berawa was a favourite of me and my wife, who I sadly lost three years ago.
The beach is clean and relatively free from vendors. The surf generally gets up a bit, but we never had any trouble swimming there. Further north is the surfing area of Canggu and further north still is Tanah Lot. The Legong Keraton recently changed hands and was having extensive renovations last August. I would expect this area to regain its popularity again and to go ahead.
