I agree with Rex if you are driving you will miss alot of the sights of Bali also as said you will be pulled up by the police more than once. you need a international drivers licence and I am sure you will enjoy yourself better with a driver. send (Komang) komangsw@yahoo.com email he will take you to wherever you want and can do over night stays he has many family all over Bali so you would most probable not need to pay for a hotel room for him.
