The judge is doing his job. Better she knows now than get a nasty surprise later.
To him, she's not an Australian. She's an alleged drug smuggler. Death is what results if drug smugglers are found guilty. Again, he is just doing his job.
He is not all Indonesians. She is not all Australians.
