Not counting mild runs that people on here call travellers trots people who get more serious so called Bali Belly are more likely to have food poisoning at some time or other all countries suffer this problem its not just something exclusive to Bali.
Food poisoning can be spread by flies and other insects as well as poor hygiene improperly supervised Buffets are prime examples of likely places for food poisoning.
Should a restaurant be found to have food poisoning in most western country's the local authority will usually close them down while ordering a thorough clean up, they will check the staff to find out if any have the illness as they would be likely to contaminate the food it is a fact that a person with food poisoning can pass it on to others if they are not very careful with their hygiene, where as in reality a person that is very ill with food poisoning is not likely to be putting hygiene as their first priority.
Better information is usually provided free of charge from most government / council health departments
