Yeah, I just got back from Bali ( Still v sad, wish I was still there...), but yes I did get the 5 at legian 2 free at Candi and I would recommend it if you want to see Bali away from all the tourist areas. Don't get me wrong, one of fave places is Bali Aussie on Melasti street in Legian ( say Hi to Made DJ from Cloudgirl), but to really see Bali, you have to get outta town!
The bungalows were nice, clean and well serviced. The resort was smaller than legian Beach hotel, but wasn't full, so was very peaceful, and the water is safe to swim, I was a bit wary at high tide coz the water comes up against the break wall. If you're taking young boys, I don't know if they'll be bored, my Mum and I took a day tour with Wayan Marep.(Ph#08123625712 or 0363-41110 No Problem Transport). A very sweet man. Very courteous and a safe driver. English is quite good and he won't take you to places you don't want to go. He took us to a temple high up in the mountains that I had never heard of before and it turned out to be a highlight of our trip. We did spend a lot of time in the car though ( it was raining most of the day- but it didn't stop me hiking up 200 stairs to see the temple)!
I loved Candi dasa, and Cafe Wayan on the main street had excellent food, really cheap Indo food, a three course meal cost 35oooRp.
I hope you have an excellent time. Cloudgirl :)
