For many years I had heard of this famous Babi Guling dish but since we are always spur of the moment people in Bali I thought we'd never be able to indulge .From what I knew you usually had to order it 24 hours in advance at restaurants.Well we usually don't know what we are doing 24 minutes in advance when in Bali ,let alone 24 hours.

Dear Dromomaniac told me about this local place in Ubud where you could get it every day BUT she forgot to say exactly how darn spicy it was.I am a full on lover of Roast pork from way back & the pork was yummy but the spices were enough to blow your head off.

A word of waring for all IF you get the chance to try Babi Guling Balinese style you must have it,it's worth it but remember that it is usually as hot as Hades if it is true local style !!

BTW - a decent size serve in Ubud costs the huge sum of 12,000 rupiah - went up in Januray from 10,000.Apart from Ubud I believe another great area for trying Balinese Babi Guling at good prices is Gianyar.Maybe look in the archives for more info.
Next time we get to Ubud I will be having it again but will be asking for way less chilli <LOL>
