BUT it's been a hell of a long time since I had to buy an after 5 ballgown type of dress for a school social or what used to be called a Deb dress when I was your daughter's age.( I know I have left myself wide open saying that)
Unfortunately our daughter is more of a casual dresser & hasn't travelled with us to Bali for many years so it's more of the surf clothes for our teenage son & clothes for the 2 of us that I am aware of prices for.

I am sure that some of the other Mum's or young ones will be able to help you with prices for a lovely dress for your daughter's special occassion - re off the rack prices.I have no doubt that you will be able to find something stunning for $150 or less. Also consider Ramyana's store in Denpasar as well as looking in the new shopping centre on Jalan Kartika Plaza.

Re having anything special made I can only guess what Aristo may charge I'd expect around the $60 mark + you bringing the material but this would be for something special. His wonderful 2 piece men's suits including material only cost $100 & that is fully lined. His prices are wonderful & the quality of his workmanship is spot on.So don't despair if you can get it off the rack.Just go see him explain the style you want & he will tell you how much material to buy & which street in Denpasar to buy it.You can even barter when you buy the material.

Give some thought to taking some pictures with you in case you don't find what you like off the rack.He does have email which has been listed many times here before. You could even send him a picture of a dress she liked & ask him for a quote before you left so you could compare.

The other thing I am thinking of is when I was recently in Perth I went to the Art gallery. They have a selection of stalls there at week ends - just like market stalls. It's just near the old building section of the art gallery that they have all these stalls.I was blown away at one stall when I saw what I would refer to a lovely ball gowns( in slim teenagers sizes )in beautiful material for between $120 > $160.I commented to my girlfriend what a pity we didn't have daughters who were into those sort of clothes so we could buy them.If you come from perth this may be another avenue to look into.

Anyway all the best for your young ladies special day & I sure hope you find her a dress & shoes she is happy with.
