Bali belly is a different creature completely and you'd know if you have it. Most people don't get Bali belly.
It's just your body adjusting to a change in diet. Most people get a touch of the runs in the first few days till your body adjusts. It happens to some people travelling within Australia due to different water (my mum for example) and happens all around the world. Just try to stick to more bland foods for the first few days as some of the foods can be a bit more spicy than some of us are used to. If you find you need to tone it down a bit, don't head back to the hotel for food, but try somewhere that serves Aussie style foods like snitzel etc.
Stick to the hotel for eating if you like, but it'll cost you more than you need to pay and you'll be missing out on a lot of great food.
