This is kind of a "trick question" with many possible answers, and I'd be presumptuous to suggest what is best. One possibility is to have lunch at Ibu Oka, babe guling, with the locals: cheap (since you are on a budget) and good. If you happen to be in Ubud on a Thursday, have dinner at Naughty Nuri's. It's "tuna night:" Bryan gets a freshly fished tuna in the morning, and you get BBQ tuna steak, or sushi, or sate tuna, with crispies and well served vodka martinis and bintangs galore. Plenty of atmosphere. Don't get there too late (past 8:00p.m.) as the tuna goes fast... Otherwise, a quiet dinner at Laka Leke, in the middle of the rice fields is not bad either, for under Rp100,000/pers. (there, you make your own entertainment).
