Glad to hear you finally enjoyed the trip. Our first time to Bali (Sanur 90) we 4 went for a walk, just like you, and I hated it. Couldn't see what everyone raved about. It took me 3 days to aclimatise and then I fell in love with the place.
Interestingly, next OS trip in 95, we also went to HK. I had the same problem there aclimatising before enjoying it. We then stopped off at the Hyatt in Sanur for 3 days to just chill. That time was just perfect because I knew what to expect.
I think you did really well enjoying HK in just 4 days. Too many people go there for that amount of time and hate it because they haven't given it a chance. Good to hear that all your travelling was not in vain.
