I live in Perth, Western Australia and can usually be sitting near the pool at our choice of accomodation 4 hrs after departing Perth airport !
I understand your disapointment going from the luxury of Honker's to Bali, but give it time the place grows on you. (Especially if you only live 4hrs away) There is something about the rawness (not seedyness) that is very appealing. I think you'll agree that the positives generally outweigh the negative.
And into the bargain you've contributed to an increadibly gracious people who are still recovering from a very desperate period.
