are Naughty Nuri's ,it's a little bit out of town - oppposite the Neka museum You will need transport.Great food, good prices & very lively - especially on a Thursday night when the Expats are there for the special Tuna night.Fresh tuna straight off the boat - favourites for many are done on BBQ or tuna sushi.Lots of friendly locals around on Thursday to give you advice or just have a chat to.You must try one of Brian's Martini's but be warned they are potent! Say hello to Brian & Nuri for us if you go there. Some of our favourites are their Chilli Con Carne & their Spare ribs - very messy to eat but definately worth it.

Another nice place is " The Fly Cafe" owned by an Aussie - Russell & his lovely Balinese wife Nyoman. It is also a little bit out of town, just a bit further up the road from Naughty Nuri's.
They even have a traditional Aussie BBQ out the front. The proper kitchen area is stainless steel & spotlessly clean.Every meal we have ever had there has been wonderful but it's also nice to pop in for just a snack.Their Chocolate lemon crunch cake is just wonderful & not to be missed.I think Russell & Nyoman will even do transport for you if you ring ahead with a booking. One again the prices are very reasonable.Give Russell & Nyoman our regards if you go there.

Another thing to do is to go & get Babi Guling( suckling pig). The meat is so tender & the skin so crunchy. The place to go is right in the centre of town opposite the palace- " Bu Oka " Many people think it has the best Balinese style of Babi Guling.Very down to earth traditional place. You take your shoes off,sit down on the platform with the locals & tourists & order.Very tasty but very spicy.I vaguely remember Dromomaniac saying you can order it without spice or less spice but I forgot at the time.
When we were there a couple of months ago the price per serve had just gone up to all of 12,000 rupiah (up from 10,000 ) It's more a lunch time thing from about 11.30am but make sure you go early as they often run out.

Another place we also really like is Cafe Wayan & bakery in Monkey Forest Road.I has a lovely garden seating & is perfect for a romantic dinner or a good spot to go with kids because they can wander around the gardens if they get bored. The service is spot on & the food yummy.I really like their Mie Goreng & Nasi Goreng & satays.A must try is their Death by chocolate cake.
Other forumites will tell you their favourite restaurants as well so you should have no shortages of places to choose from.
