As the gold is only plated (and I'm not even sure it is claimed to be "gold") there was no way I was going near it when I bought my keyrings etc.
I have bought gold plated stuff a few times over the years (opal pendants etc in Qld as an example) and quickly learned not to go that route.
I think F2F are reputable and would help you with any problems (maybe contact them via email b4hand)
Tuck it away in "lesson well learned" and avoid anything with the word "plating".
If you want anything done before your next trip if it is a while away we are off in a couple of weeks and I will gladly deal with it for you if req.
