Like you said at least they tried. We once had a cancelled flight and Qantas begrudgingly gave us transport to a hotel for the night. But once we left the hotel the next morning at 9-30am, we were on our own. The flight didnt leave til 3-30pm.
We wrote a letter of complaint to them but they basically sent us a "Dear John" reply.
Needless to say we have not flown with Qantas since.
