Stayed several times at the Tjampuhan Hotel, a very laid back but not "budget" hotel. Always wear shorts and sleeveless teeshirt around the hotel, including in the restaurant, and anywhere else we go to in Ubud. This includes other restaurants and art galleries etc. Never had any adverse reactions. Everywhere we go people are friendly and welcome us back when we go again.

Never bought much in the way of clothing in Ubud. Usually do clothes shopping in Kuta, Seminyak or Denpasar. Maybe I have misunderstood you, but you do not need warm clothing for Ubud. Maybe just a little less hot than the coast, but definitely not cool. You may find it easier to have clothes made to fit your size. I can recommend Janoko in Poppies 2 in Kuta. Good tailoring at very reasonable prices, but I don't know about warm weather clothing.
