a few trips ago re steps ! I don't think I'd taken much in the way of notes from BTF re WWR & went for a wander around town determined to find a company to go with that didn't have what felt like 1001 steps up & or down.
Technically it may be 200 or 300 steps but in that hunidity it sure seems like more Well talked about sucked in <LOL> we were told that we had steps on the way down BUT that there was a lift to go up with - what they forgot to tell us was that we still had what seemed like 1001 steep steps to climb up before you actually got to the lift.
After a very long climb up the hill & close to the stage of exhaustion my dear husband asked how much longer before we got to the lift, the guide said 50 metres BUT it wasn't our version of 50 metres.I reckon we had a vertical climb of probably 150 metres ! Eventually we got to the lift for what was about a 10 second ride up a very short distance. On offer was a shocking meal that had been sitting there for hours, needless to say we pretty much by passed it it.
To make matters worse the driver for the WWR companty was an absolute madman. He seemed to be in a huge hurry on both legs of the trip several times I looked at the speedo & on some pretty bad curvy roads we got up to 80 kmph.Only good thing was he had seat belts in front & back of the van but he was surprised that when he was driving so fast I insisted the 3 of us put seat belts on.He must have thought I was a very religious person when he heard me praying as our son & I were seated in the back seat of the van & my husband in the front seat with his knuckles going white & all the colour draining from his face. When we commented on how fast he was driving he just said " I know this road well & everyone will get out of my way, they know how I drive " well they may have known him but didn't know us.I sure wish I had been wearing brown undies that day <VBG>
