...one of the great "don't miss" items on Bali. The best places are those factory-type, exposed-to-the-outdoors showrooms you will see if you drive from Sanur or Kuta up to Ubud. Just tell your driver when you see something nice and he will stop and you can then go on in and do the paperwork. Items are shipped by the cubic metre at around $200-400US to Vancouver I believe. Some things, like desks or smaller cabinets, can be contained within one cyubic metre while others, like beds, require more. You can pay by credit card and fill out the shipping forms there.
I suggest you choose unique items with more intricate carving work, as there does seem to be an ongoing trend towards lower-labour intensive finishes such as staining or painting. The prices of the items will usually be lower than the shipping, which willbe the biggest factor cost-wise.
