Regarding Porters, in the past we have tended not to use them on the way through customs, but then use them on the return trip and we have always been stopped by customs. We plan to use them both ways next trip, cause we tend to feel that customs don't tend to harras those who use porters. Last time we wanted Porters to carry our bags, but none would cause there were white numbers all over our bags, got busted for bringing in Champagne.
For 3 weeks I always take about $1,500 cash, then rely on my Visa for any overspending. I keep the money in the safe and keep it in envelopes of $100 lots. I find it easier to convert money from a $100 note so this is mostly what I take with me, after checking them thouroghly of course. Had a couple of incidents on our 2nd trip where they refused to take the money cause there was a minute tear. So check well, before you go. I always tell the bank about my story and orgainse a number of days prior to my trip to go in and go through some notes.
