I used them last trip instead of a suitcase, I took 3 over but only used 2. My tip is to take a roll of masking tape just for reinforcing after they are packed (just wrap a few loops around them just in case they split). They worked fine, although I put anything delicate in my hand trolley. Also the limit is on weight not on the number of pieces of luggage. They are so cheap you could put one side the other for additional padding.
