I believe that the sms charge is the same as in Australia however you may need to activate Global roaming, which if you do and you don't divert your phone to messagebank you will be paying huge charges to receive calls.
You can purchase a phone card from Travelex at the Airport, $25.00, $50.00 or $100.00 (I think), with this card you get a message service and you phone a free call number then put your code in and dial the number, this way you call from the hotel for no charge ( except what is credited from your pre-paid card) you can also put more credit on if needed once again using a free call number and Credit Card.
