On first visit to Bali a driver took us to a quite large silver "emporium" in Celuk, the name of which I do not recall. As we approached they turned on the indoor lights and several female attendants were attempting to make themselves busy. The girl in the backroom who is supposedly one of the silversmiths/jewellery makers had to be rounded up so that we could see her at work.
We did buy some bits and pieces and have found out since that we were ripped off. The rings fell apart within months, all pieces were well over priced even after bargaining.
In recent visits we have bought from the jewellery stores in Ubud behind the market towards the soccer field, some of which are manufacturers.
