We got there at about 6.30, and saw some herons and egrets nesting in the trees along the road - perhaps a couple of hundred in all, but not the cloud of herons that I was expecting. So I have to say it was a little disappointing for us. But I spoke with another friend, who described it as a sea of herons descending, and said they had to carry umbrellas as they walked to avoid the "blessings" from the birds. One of the guide books says that th best time to go is from April (til when I can't remember), so perhaps it was just off season or something...
