I'm a Singaporean living in East Malaysia and we're intending to go to Bali in June.Although I've been there( 15 years ago) , can't say I remember much about the place.But from the advice of a friend here who goes there at least twice a year, its easy to drive around if you are used to roads in Malaysia-not the federal highways, mind you but the A roads that were used before the highways, and also if you can speak Bahasa.But since the drivers with a car are rather cheap anyway, it may be better for you just to hire them.But then again if you don't mind getting lost on your own,then by all means get a car.You didn't mention whether you'll be alone or not.
