The 3rd place we visited was Bali Bulldog Tattoo Studio in Gang Camplung Mas, Legian (as recommended by Rosalie - thanks so much Rose).
We were greeted by DJ, the owner. 23 years old and the nicest person you could ever meet. He still lives at home with his parents and while he is living there his parents have forbidden him from getting any tattoos himself !! How bizarre - a tattooist who has none!!
Gary and I immediately felt comfortable with him - his designs were good and his sterilization routine was exactly as we expected and wanted. We told him what we were after and he said to call back the next day to check the drawings. We did, and after a few minor alterations we had what we wanted so we booked in for the next day, our last in Bali, at 2pm.

A friend of ours, Dave, is a renal patient, and had given me some of his anesthetic cream which numbs the skin prior to insertion of the dialysis needles, in case it would help ease the pain of the tattoo (hey I've got nothing to prove pain-threshold-wise, I've had 2 kids. Well, I diligently applied the cream 1 hour beforehand, wrapped my foot in plastic, and headed off to see DJ at the appointed time with my stomach doing flip-flops. Gary was very cool about the whole thing which was a bit disconcerting for me!
