First Timer, Driver questions....

How far ahead of time should we book our driver? We arrive in Bali on the 5th and would like to have a driver for a couple of days during our trip. Will it be cheaper for us to hire the same person for more than one day even if we plan to stay in different areas? Can anyone give us some driver recommendations with contact info and approx. costs? Thanks so much!!!
