go to Bank Indonesia (the central bank). They should change it. Get them to change it into current rupiah. When they do, you can ask the exchange rate on these particular notes into dollars (should be the same as on the street). Then you can give your friend the dollars when you return. Remember that it is expensive to buy dollars there.
