I had, and now have, a fussy one - saying the most insipid of curries are too hot. When travelling I didn't worry about it too much and they would have to eat the local cuisine at times or starve. They actually enjoyed their new found food which they would not have otherwise tried. I'm not too tough but I do insist that they actually try things at least. Now the original fussy one ASKS for curries. That from a kid that wouldn't even have gravy!
