as noosa_blue says, it depends on what he likes. If he is into sports and beer, there are plenty of bars. If he just likes to chill out and read a book, he can do that at any hotel/resort. I remember the first time I was there, its a real culture shock, and the heat and humidity is awfull. For our first trip we stayed at bali hai, and was recommended not to leave the resort for at least a day until you chilled out and relaxed. My hubby is quite content to stay in the room and sleep then come down to the pool at happy hour. I just go and shop till I drop on my own. We spend the evening together having drinks and dinner. Make the holiday your own, don't worry about him if he is to grumpy.
