we split the money and carry half each. We only cash $200 aust at a time (usually each day) and leave the rest in the security box.
I can't stand things in my pockets so i use a money puch around my neck or around my waist.The waist one is stretchy and i wear over my clothes, not under.As it is next to my body i would feel anyone tampering with it.
If i decide to go with the purse in the backpack then i make sure it is on the bottom and is an old travelling purse with nothing else in it.
Credit card always at hotel safety deposit for emergencies.
