I never knew that Miss Maudes actually did accomodation so that is a surprise to me as I allways thought it was a swedish cake and coffee house cum resturant.
A suggestion I can offer is the Indian Ocean Hotel in Scarborough about 200 meters from the beach.
The accomodation is very reasonably priced, contains it's own resturant, swimmingpool, spa facilities and a cocktail bar(read well dressed public bar) that has live music on most nights of the week.
The name of the cocktail bar is the Indie Bar and it is the social club of this bar that sponsors the Giri Asih orphanage near Negara in the west of Bali. This is the same orphanage I visited last August as a representative of the social club of which I am a member. There is also a photo board of the kids that they sponsor at the orphanage.
This is a very freindly and welcoming place.
The IOH is also walking distance from Scarborough beach (best beach in the world) which apart ffrom being a place to start on your tan has a heaps cafe's, eateries and nightlife (read pubs) in which you are able to get a drink.
Scabs is allmost the bondi of the west!
You can get the sunset coast shuttle bus that will take you direct to the hotel. There is also a local there who has a taxi if you need to get you to the airport early in the morning if need be, i can put you in touch with him.
