My husband always carrys our money in a money pouch around his neck. Separate your notes so when you pay for something you are not taking out a huge wad of notes. We usually put them in bundles of about $20 or $30(in Rp) worth so we can keep track of how much we have left for the day. I only carry enought money on me for if we ever got separated and needed a taxi back, (never happened yet). It is great for me as when I get asked "you buy, you buy" I just hold up my hands and say "no money". Good luck.
